Deliverables

The PlaceMUS XR project focuses on developing cutting-edge digital tools, which will be integrated in the ECCCH, to enrich the visitor experience with cultural contexts and heritage objects. Design and simulation tools will be implemented to 1) create, share, re-use, interactive contents, 2) analyse, design and verify interaction with visitors, for the benefit of museum curators, creative industries, students, and researchers.

The leading theme of the project is “Paths and Places of Music in Europe” interpreted as extended realities, because they include several typologies of material objects/contexts as well as intangible heritage, whose value, possibilities of interaction and understanding are enhanced by virtual reality technologies and digital tools. Experiences are built on the intersection of architecture, arts, landscape, time and mind.

List of deliverables

The Project Handbook reports the management processes for communication, monitoring, approval of deliverables adopted within the PlaceMUS XR project, including the setting up of guidelines, templates and standards. It provides the necessary indications to define the overall managerial strategy and how each phase established by the PlaceMUS XR documentation must be made operational, within a dedicated timeframe, during the project implementation. The current text constitutes is a living document, constantly evolving with attention to the progression of overlapping parallel tasks of WPs and their deliverables. The intended target of the PlaceMUS XR Project Handbook consists of members of the PlaceMUS XR Consortium and the Project Officer(s).

The Data Management Plan is a mandatory component of Horizon Europe projects and provides information about:

1. The project data summary
2. Guiding principles around data management
3. How to make project data FAIR
4. Data security, ethics and confidentiality.

Further to these basic requirements, this document drafts the expected integration roadmap with the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage (ECCCH) through the cooperation with the European Cloud for Heritage Open Science – ECHOES project

This deliverable defines the strategic framework guiding communication, dissemination and exploitation activities within PlaceMUS XR. It establishes how the project positions itself within the Horizon Europe ecosystem and the ECHOES initiative, ensuring coherence, visibility and long-term impact. The document outlines a coordinated approach to engage key target audiences, structure project messaging and support the progressive uptake of results across scientific communities, cultural heritage institutions, creative industries and wider society. Communication is conceived as an integral component of the research and innovation process, accompanying the project from initial visibility to stakeholder engagement and final exploitation. The deliverable also defines the governance, tools and operational mechanisms that enable effective coordination among partners and alignment between communication, dissemination and exploitation pathways. Finally, it identifies the strategic directions for the uptake and sustainability of PlaceMUS XR results, supporting their integration within the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage (ECCCH) and their long-term use beyond the project duration.

The Risk Management Plan (RMP) sets the foundation for detecting, evaluating, and managing risks during the PlaceMUS XR project. It details the processes for risk identification, analysis, response planning, and monitoring, aiming to ensure the successful execution of all activities associated with PlaceMUS XR, as specified in the Grant Agreement 101233325. As a dynamic and living document, this Risk Management Plan will be revised and updated periodically throughout the project’s duration to accommodate evolving risk profiles and their corresponding mitigation strategies.

This deliverable (Deliverable D5.1) defines the conceptual and operational foundations for the preliminary user studies within Work Package 5 (WP5) of the PlaceMUS XR project. As a foundational report (M4), Deliverable D5.1 focuses on establishing a rigorous methodology and a suite of research tools designed to inform the subsequent design and development of sound and visual based immersive experiences. The methodology is grounded in the PACT framework (People, Activities, Contexts, Technologies). A mixed-methods strategy is presented, centred on a set of structured, multi-target questionnaires designed for six key stakeholder groups: Consortium Partners, Researchers, Museum Curators, Educators and Students, Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs), and the General Public (Visitors, Citizens and Tourists). These tools have been developed to capture both transversal trends (Common Core) and role-specific requirements (Target-specific sections), with an emphasis on Universal Design and Accessibility. In accordance with the project’s timeline, Deliverable D5.1 presents the survey instruments and the Data Collection Plan (M5-M16). The results of these studies will directly inform the system specifications for the VR Mockup Tool and the overarching PlaceMUS XR model. All activities are designed in full compliance with GDPR and ethical guidelines, ensuring data minimization, informed consent, and secure management. As a methodology-oriented report, Deliverable D5.1 provides the systematic and transparent research baseline necessary to ensure that the PlaceMUS XR digital ecosystem is evidence-based, user-centered, and scientifically validated within the European Collaborative Cultural Heritage Cloud (ECCCH) framework.

This deliverable (Deliverable D3.1) outlines the PlaceMUS XR concpetual and methodological framework for creating virtual experiences across musical itineraries in Europe, using sound as the main medium to interpret cultural heritage. It emphasizes concepts of embodiment, multisensory perception, collective experience, and issues like authenticity, accessibility, and inclusivity. The methodology combines site selection, significance assessment, and case studies, organized into thematic itinerary types with narrative and gamified elements. It defines design and technical requirements, including advanced technologies and integration into the ECCCH digital ecosystem. Finally, it addresses sustainability and develops nine European itineraries showcasing diverse musical traditions and contexts.
