Held on 1 July at the Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center (PCSS), the “From 3D Data to XR Experiences” Forum marked the final showcase event of the 3DBigDataSpace project, organised in collaboration with XRculture and 3D-4CH. Bringing together researchers, heritage professionals and technology experts from across Europe, the event explored how emerging digital technologies are expanding new possibilities for the preservation, accessibility and experience of cultural heritage.
On July 1 2026, the PlaceMUS XR project was showcased during “From 3D Data to XR Experiences: Forum on the Future of Cultural Heritage Technologies”, held at the Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center (PCSS) in Poland. The forum gathered researchers, heritage professionals, technology developers and policymakers from across Europe to explore the latest advances in digital technologies for the heritage sector.
The forum explored how emerging technologies are transforming the way cultural heritage is documented and experienced, with sessions dedicated to 3D data, AI, XR and the Common European Data Space for Cultural Heritage, highlighting how digital innovation is opening new opportunities for research, accessibility and public engagement.
These priorities closely align with the vision of PlaceMUS XR, which explores how immersive technologies can create new ways of experiencing and engaging with Europe’s musical heritage. By encouraging innovative approaches to digital engagement and the reuse of cultural heritage assets, the project contributes to the broader European effort to make culture more accessible, interactive and meaningful for diverse audiences.
As part of the forum activities, 3D Research, one of the project’s partners, showcased the PlaceMUS XR project through dedicated posters and networking activities. This provided an opportunity to engage with researchers, heritage professionals, technology experts and representatives of other European initiatives, exchanging perspectives on shared challenges and exploring new opportunities for collaboration.
Beyond the project showcase, the event fostered dialogue across disciplines and sectors, bringing together initiatives working at the intersection of cultural heritage, digital innovation and immersive technologies. For PlaceMUS XR, participating in this exchange reinforced the value of collaboration in advancing new approaches to cultural heritage interpretation and audience engagement, while contributing to a growing European ecosystem of projects shaping the future of digital heritage.
